Last night abc6 Action News in Philly aired this report:
Here is additional video of the John Hangar interview:
Hangar the Hagard continues to say the DEP will come down hard on any company after they've polluted our water.
Here is an additional interview with Terry Engelder:
Thinking we are all idiots, Engelder the Buffoon continues to equate the risks of gas drilling with driving a car.

It is interesting that for Hangar it is about "excellence"--- by which he means doing things as closely to perfection as possible--- but for him all of it is subsumed under one other overridingly superior consideration: profit.
ReplyDeleteHangar, to all appearance, is trying to be a rationalist, a centrist ---one who is neither purely anti or purely pro, but one who weighs the pluses and minuses and finds a reasonable middle ground.
What I find most disturbing about this is his actual job-----head of the Department of ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION.
Until the drillers can prove they will NOT-- not soon, and not 20, 30, 40 years from now--- cause environmental damage his role as head of environmental protection should be crystal clear: he should be campaigning to stop the drilling until those assurances are guaranteed.
And the only way they will be guaranteed....at least as far as the fracking is concerned. . . is when they are no longer using dangerous chemicals in the drilling/extraction process.
Until then, they pose a risk, and Hangar is denying it because of the money.
Hangar is hiding behind the economic argument of drilling necessity for a cash-strapped State counter to his positional mandate:
to PROTECT the environment.
I urge everyone to write Hangar and tell him to do his job.
