Wonder if he eats breakfast 300 yards from gas rigs and compressor stations?
Fitting that he would paraphrase a supreme egotist like Colonel Jessup.
It appears that idiotic and sociopathic are requirements for employment in the industry.
Pursel was quoted in a wrong-headed article in Forbes by Christopher Helman who thinks the industry is a reliable source of information on the environmental effects of gas drilling.

I wish all these guys could be made to spend a week with their families in Dish. No gas masks allowed.
That quote is the best example of the current paradigm I have read.
ReplyDeleteTo these folks anything which challenges the fossil fuel industry is a challenge to their very existence. . . . since they are allied umbilically with fossil fuels anything which challenges ff acquisition and use they perceive as a threat both on an atavistic and an ego level.
The idea that there will be a future when renewable energy has replaced fossil fuels is not part of their operative paradigm....it is foreign to their thinking, and like all things foreign to xenophobes it is a source principally of fear.
It is that fear, coupled with greed, which creates the blinders they wear to changing to alternate energy.
But the paradigm, like all things continental, is already beginning to shift.
